I have spent the better part of the last 2 weekends trying to plan the best way to hook up electricity to my outdoor lighting and fountains without cords dragging across the deck and spoiling the Zen feel of the garden pathways.
I plan to bury the cord going to the fountain in the back of the yard but what to do for lighting right on the back deck and patio?
I first rearranged the furniture so that the lighting would be closer to the outlets but it wasn’t really practical to have all of the seating on one side of the deck.
Then I tried running the cords underneath the outdoor rug but there was still a section of cord showing.
And if I wanted more than one source of light I had 2 cords running across the pathway from the end table by the bench to the patio table.
It was not so long ago that outdoor lighting was limited to string lights, which I still like, by the way, but they are not right for some applications. To illuminate a dark corner or create strategic ambience, single lamps are far superior.
Round Indoor/Outdoor Orb Portable LED Lights
These LED orb lights I found at Design Within Reach are a perfect solution. They are available in a oval or round and do not have cords that need to be connected to outlets. Problem Solved.
